Cumberland Panthers Awarded Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant
Late last year, the Cumberland Panthers Football Club began an in-depth process to submit an application for the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) Grant Process.
“The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and Canada’s largest granting foundation. Over $110 million is awarded annually to some 1,000 nonprofit and charitable organizations across the province.” (Source: http://www.otf.ca/who-we-are)
Following a concentrated period where Club members researched policy, drafted application responses and eventually submitted our detailed financial records to the OTF, we are able to announce that the Club has been successful in our application.
The grant awards the Club nearly $70,000 to go toward new equipment purchases and other capital expenditures. From the very beginning of the process, player safety has been at the forefront of our priorities.
The provincial government has recognized the Cumberland Panthers’ efforts to provide the safest environment possible for the players of our sport and this grant will allow us to continue our Club’s tradition of being among the leaders of minor football player safety initiatives.
The Club will officially accept the Grant in a ceremony in the weeks ahead.
We would like to thank the OTF, Ottawa-Orleans MPP Marie-France Lalonde and the Ontario Provincial Government.
